Who is our School Counselor?

My name is Lisa Daniel, M.Ed., LMHCA and I’ve been a school counselor for 26 years with 21 of those years here at McAuliffe Elementary School. Prior to working as a counselor, I was an elementary classroom teacher and a reading specialist. My husband and I have lived here in the beautiful city of Sammamish for 26 years and raised our 4 kids here. Although our kids are busy with their adult lives now, we have two very spoiled yorkies that keep us on our toes. Being a school counselor and working with children is my passion and I am so grateful to do work that I deeply love. McAuliffe is an amazing school full of incredible teachers, staff and students. The warmth, kindness and connection here is truly special.

What does the school counseling program at McAuliffe look like?

I provide students with comprehensive school counseling services addressing areas of academic, personal/social, and career success. To meet the needs of all students, they are supported in several different ways. I teach lessons in the classroom monthly throughout the school year, small groups in my office for 6-week sessions as well as meeting with students individually as needed. My role also includes the support of staff, parents/families, and the greater community. My goal is to ensure that each child has equal opportunity to achieve success and feel safe and respected both in and outside of school.  Click on this document to learn more specific details about the counseling program at McAuliffe.
